Embody Pilates is based at The Wellbeing Studio in Clevedon, where Melissa runs eleven classes a week:

Mondays: 12.30-13.30 and 19.00-20.00
Tuesdays: 18.15-19.15 and 19.15-20.15
Wednesdays: 10.15-11.15 and 11.15-12.15
Thursdays: 12.30-13.30, 18.00-19.00 and 19.00-20.00
Fridays: 09.30-10.30 and 10.30-11.30
Saturday mornings: 10.00-11.00

The classes are open to all to take part and suitable for all abilities.  The cost per hour-long class is just over £8 when you pay the upfront price of £50 for 6 sessions, or £10 if you’d prefer to pay for each class individually.  The block of six sessions can then be used as and when you’re free to come to class.

To let Melissa know you’d like to come to a class, fill in the contact form.  She’ll reply straight away to confirm a place for you.  After that, just come along wearing comfortable, loose-fitting clothes and you’re ready to go.  Mats and other small pieces of equipment are available for you to use, or if you’d prefer, you can bring your own mat.

Pilates Meets Kung Fu Ballet

All eight principles of Pilates are beautifully demonstrated in this mesmerising performance by world-renowned dancer and keen Pilates enthusiast, Sylvie Guillem.  The piece is called Two (Rise and Fall) and was choreographed by Russell Maliphant.  Guillem, working within a small rectangular box and surrounded by a larger rectangle of light, has to concentrate hard to coordinate her flowing movements with the music. Technically difficult and physically demanding, Guillem makes the dance look effortless.  An example of a woman in full control of every part of her body.  Inspiring stuff!
