Pilates Meets Kung Fu Ballet

All eight principles of Pilates are beautifully demonstrated in this mesmerising performance by world-renowned dancer and keen Pilates enthusiast, Sylvie Guillem.  The piece is called Two (Rise and Fall) and was choreographed by Russell Maliphant.  Guillem, working within a small rectangular box and surrounded by a larger rectangle of light, has to concentrate hard to coordinate her flowing movements with the music. Technically difficult and physically demanding, Guillem makes the dance look effortless.  An example of a woman in full control of every part of her body.  Inspiring stuff!
